Afghan President Karzai visits DC

May 15, 2010

Hamid Karzai visited Washington last week to meet U.S. President Obama and other senior leaders. It was great to be able to cover the visit, especially since I’ve been following the war in Afghanistan for years and now finally was able to get so close to the politics surrounding it. Both countries sought to ease over recent tensions, making a tangible effort to stress common goals instead. Obama and Clinton paved the path for a long-term U.S. presence in Afghanistan, even after troops have left the country. Click on the pictures below, or find my coverage on the Medill News Service: Day one, day two, day three, day four.
